Founding member of Bon Jovi,  Alec John Such, has died at the age of 70.  The rock band announced the death on Sunday (5 June).  “He was an original,” Bon Jovi wrote in a post on social media.
“As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band.  “To be honest, we found our way to each other thru [sic] him,” the statement added.

“Alec was always wild and full of life. Today those special moments will bring a smile to my face and tears to my eyes.”  Such was a bassist for the rock band from 1983 to 1994.  Details of how he died haven’t been revealed.

Bon Jovi credited Such for bringing the band together, revealing that he was a friend of drummer Tico Torres and brought him and songwriter Richie Sambora to see the band perform back in the day.
Such left Bon Jovi in 1994 when he was replaced by bassist Hugh McDonald. He rejoined the band for its induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

Such played on the band’s first five studio albums, including Slippery When Wet, New Jersey and Keep the Faith.  Many people from the music industry have paid tribute to Such.  Jon Bon Jovi’s brother Matthew Bongiovi posted a photograph with Such on Twitter, writing:
“Rest Easy brother, Alec John Such.”  Music historian Eddie Trunk added: “RIP former and original Bon Jovi bassist Alec John Such.

Such parted ways with the band in 1994 and was later replaced by bassist Hugh McDonald.
The group was reunited when Bon Jovi was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
At the induction ceremony, Such spoke fondly of his time with his band mates, saying, “(I) love them to death. I always will.”

“When Jon Bon Jovi called me up and asked me to be in his band many years ago, I soon realized how serious he was and he had a vision that he wanted to bring us to. And I’m only too happy to have been a part of that vision,” he said in his speech.

Fleetwood Mac: after its 926 weeks on the chart, who’s still buying Rumours?

Fleetwood Mac: after its 926 weeks on the chart, who’s still buying Rumours? Editor Katie Watkins 10-2-2022 Fleetwood Mac released Rumours forty-five years ago this month, an album that combined some what gauzy soft pop, manicured folk and stormy rock with a soap-operatic level of intra-band strife.  Rumours won album of the year at the U.S. Grammys,  achieved 20 times platinum status in the US alone. What’s truly remarkable about this album is the album longevity , and how it continues to sell  thousands of new physical copies each year, despite being available to stream.  According to the UK’s Official Charts Company, Rumours sold over 34,593 vinyl copies in 2021, third only to new albums by Adele and Abba, and beating  new release by such artist as Ed Sheeran and Lana Del Rey.  Rumours also sold over 32,508 copies the previous year and  is currently sitting at No 29 in its 926th week on the UK  Official album chart, which is now up five pl...
