Pulp 1996 lineup

Pulp announced they are to reunite for 2011 concerts in a short statement the band, which alongside Blur and Oasis defined the Britpop era, promised to play fan favourites as they confirmed dates at the Wireless festival in Hyde Park and at Spain's Primavera Sound festival, both next summer. A tour could follow.

Pulp are  just one of the latest band to reform amid a wave of nostalgia, stretching from Led Zeppelin's comeback gig at the O2 arena in London in 2007 to Spandau Ballet's recent world tour. But perhaps the most successful have been two other stalwarts of the 1990s; Blur, who reunited in 2009, with a headline slot at Glastonbury festival, and Take That, recently reunited with fifth member Robbie Williams. Pulp appear to be prepared for the onslaught of questions that inevitably accompany news of a band's reunion.

Pulp originally formed in Sheffield in 1978, establishing a cult fanbase before breaking into the mainstream with their 1995 single Common People.

The same year, the band stood in for the Stone Roses to headline Glastonbury. They released seven albums before splitting in 2002.

Cocker has since established a successful career as a solo artist and cultural commentator.

Their forthcoming shows will be the first time the classic Pulp lineup – comprising Cocker, drummer Nick Banks, keyboard player Candida Doyle, bassist Steve Mackey, guitarist and violinist Russell Senior and third guitarist Mark Webber – have played together since 1996.

Among the many fans to express their delight over the news of Pulp's reunion was BBC Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens. "Pulp always offered something more literal, mysterious and interesting than all those other bands that were lumped under the 'Britpop' tagline."

In 2007, Cocker told one reporter: "Hell would have to freeze over first! ... There is no barrier other than the fact that at the moment I can't really see a point."

However, further reports suggested Cocker, possibly with a degree of irony, had said he was waiting to see how successful Blur's reunion was before committing to Pulp, with the Sun reporting that he said: "It all depends on how much money is on the table."

The band members have yet to offer a full comment on why they have decided to reunite now. Closing their truncated statement yesterday, the band simply quoted the title of one of their most famous songs, asking: "Do you remember the first time?"

Bananarama feud:  Why did Bananarama break-up? Editor Katie Watkin's  27/10/2020  Pop Diva's Bananarama are a three-piece girl band who came together in 1979 while studying fashion in London.  While two of the members, Keren Woodward and Sara Dallin, were childhood friends, they met Irish musician and third member Siobhan Fahey as students.  So what caused the trio  to have one of the messiest break-ups in pop history, and who was behind it ? Bananarama are known for their Iconic-hits like  Venus, Robert De Niro’s Waiting and Love in the First Degree, to name a few.   But the all three women were “difficult” to work with, according to their former producer, Peter Waterman, who described the artists as “punks”.   Waterman told The Sun: “I fought with them about everything. They saw themselves as punks who were not prepared to be manipulated by any man.   “If I dared to argue or if I didn’t see things the way they did, they ...

MATT GOSS MANAGERS MICHAEL LICATA  AND ROB FERGUSON POSTED   PATHEIC APOLOGY TO A FAN WHO THEY BOTH VICOUSLY ATTACKED ON SOCIAL MEDIA. Editor Katie Watkins 11-11-2021 Rob Ferguson and Michael Licata who both manage 80's Pop icon and Bros frontman Matt Goss have both been forced to give an apology for the disgusting abusive and vile behavior. The action of Michael Licata and Rob Ferguson (Lit Management / Transcend Music) both asked members of several Facebook groups to share their vile posts, which escalated to a vicious assault on a male fan reputation and threats to his life. The attacks were so bad the male fan had received threats from hundreds of fans in which numerous fans were investigated by the police. The male fan graciously accepted the pathetic apology, which when read was more about Rob and Michael than a sincere apology.  The fan told us that the online trolling and the horrendous behavior by some middle-aged woman who posted vile comments on Facebook w...
